His training took him from the legendary Regensburger Domspatzen through the University of Music and Theatre Munich to the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. Since then, he has performed as an opera singer and concert soloist with renowned conductors, orchestras, and ensembles on major stages. In 2012, he received the Schubert Prize from the German Schubert Society, and in 2016, he was awarded the Gramophone Award as New Artist of the Year. Accompanying Benjamin Appl is violinist Franziska Hölscher, who is the Artist in Residence of the Lake Constance Festival 2027. On this concert evening, Appl takes the audience into the world of song and into a classical 'Schubertiade': those legendary salon evenings where Franz Schubert performed with friends and soared to intellectual heights.
