Symphony No. 40 in G minor Mozart would probably have clapped his hands with joy: Isabelle Faust and Kristian Bezuidenhout, together with the Kammerorchester Basel, present an evening entirely in the spirit of the genius of Viennese Classicism. Isabelle Faust is one of the leading violinists of our time; she is especially praised for her uncompromising, work-close, stylistically reflective playing style. Especially in the classical repertoire, she combines precision with chamber music sensitivity – ideal conditions for Mozart's Violin Concerto. Kristian Bezuidenhout, in turn, is one of the most important fortepianists of our time and will direct the evening from the fortepiano – in the spirit of performance practice from Mozart's time.
Together with the Kammerorchester Basel, a Mozart evening is created from a single mold: The Sonata for Violin and Fortepiano in G Major opens the program with chamber music intimacy, before Violin Concerto No. 2 in D Major and Mozart's virtuoso and elegant Rondo in C Major showcase his playful side.
