Description
Reading by Dominic Oppliger from «Gschtüel» (Aris Verlag, 2026) Baden, sometime in the early 2000s. An unnamed narrator searches
his place in a city that has remained foreign to him until the old
Gstühl area comes to life. There he finds a home,
like-minded people, and Julia: mysterious, attractive – and quite soon
missing. When he encounters her again months later, she is a
different person. The Gstühl is heading for demolition, disturbing encounters
accumulate, and the same strange book with the theories of a Baden spa doctor appears again and again, promising «The Overcoming of
Humanity».
«Gschtüel» is Dominic Oppliger's fantastic dive into Baden of the
early 2000s – and takes him to Thailand and back to the Limmat in the
Hot Springs.
Dominic Oppliger (*1983) studied Social Work and Transdisciplinarity in
the arts, lives in Zurich, and works independently as an author,
