Vera Hohleiter lives and writes in Basel, where she works, among other things, as co-leader of the network lokal lesen. She studied literature, political science, and history in Berlin and Paris and completed Korean studies at Ewha Women's University in Seoul. As a journalist, she worked in Germany, Switzerland, South Korea, and the USA for radio and television stations, print, and online media. In South Korea, she is known for the popular Korean TV show Misuda. Her publications include the narrative non-fiction book Sleepless in Seoul as well as numerous stories in literary magazines and anthologies. Beyond Things is her first novel.
