Musical reading with author Elodie Olson-Coons and musician Stéphane Blok on the occasion of the publication of Les rivières n'existent pas, published by éditions de l'Oeil d'Or. Les Rivières n’existent pas is a fragmented portrait of the Doubs – its waters, myths, sounds, landscapes. It is also an intimate mapping of a rupture, and what comes after. How to apprehend the world? How to understand it, name it, find one's place in it? Under the branches, with diving warblers, limestone rocks, and periwinkles as the only witnesses, the text sketches a return to oneself after a life turned towards others. Through a series of attempts at sound and geological transcriptions, readings, archive dives, and hikes, the narrative questions the Doubs from its source to the Saône: border river, karst river, river troubled by the Anthropocene. In the vein of Esther Kinsky's La Rivière or Rebecca Solnit's A Field Guide to Getting Lost, Les Rivières n’existent pas is an inventory of a landscape in metamorphosis, a path towards the after. Elodie Olson-Coons is a writer and bookseller. Interested in sound cartographies, wild waters, inventories, and collective creation, committed to intercultural solidarity, she works in French and English. Since 2025, she co-manages the independent bookstore La Méridienne in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Her texts have been published in literary journals such as Guernica, Music & Literature, [PANK], and 3:AM Magazine, as well as in two collective works. In 2023, with the support of the City of La Chaux-de-Fonds, she obtained a four-month CVC writing residency in Belgrade.
