Leocadie Company: «Daring to be Ourselves»

Description

Sit up straight. Smile. Belong.
Who are we once we stop playing a role? Four women take their places around a table – poised, precise, obedient to a world that rewards appearances. A pulsing industrial score tightens the screws; the choreography holds its breath, gesture by gesture, until the rules multiply faster than the body can follow. Then the seams give. What was rehearsed comes undone, and beneath the mask, something raw and alive steps forward. «Daring to be Ourselves» combines contemporary dance with influences from theatre and hip-hop styles. Drawing on the personal experiences of four dancers, the first creation by Leocadie Company explore the themes of vulnerability and authenticity that might be the strengths we were looking for all along. Concept/Choreography: Léa Schneider. Dance: Mariana Morales-Tomaz, Angie Sabé, Ambre Curiant, Léa Schneider. Music: Jaag – Jean-Alexis Aaron Grigri. Lighting Design/Technical: Marin Valentin Wolf. Production: Leocadie Company.
