Through the body, Léna Sophia Bagutti-Khennouf explores the remnants of an Algerian memory buried between family history, colonization, and exile. "I feel I have so much to say that it's better if I am not too cultivated. I need to keep a kind of barbarity, I need to remain barbaric."
— Kateb Yacine, Algerian poet (1929–1989) Swiss choreographer and dancer of Algerian origin Léna Sophia Bagutti-Khennouf presents R. u. in. es, a powerful and committed solo that explores a family memory marked by colonization and uprooting, between Algeria, France, and Switzerland.
Alone on stage, a figure digs into silences and questions what remains of a heritage that History has tried to erase — a heritage that resists nonetheless, and continues to be transmitted, from flesh to flesh. The body becomes both a battleground and a place of intimate archaeology, where tensions of history, imposed silences, and fragmented identities are reenacted. Through raw and sensitive dance, R. u. in. es awakens ghosts of the past, brings buried stories to light, and attempts to reassemble a shattered lineage. Inspired by family stories and the history of Algerian resistance, the piece affirms a political memory, both intimate and collective. Distribution:
