Virtuosity with Heart and Humor
Connected by their love for South American and Southern European music, Paolo D’Angelo and Erika Lafosse come together to explore the wonderful guitar concert by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. For this, they were able to enlist the virtuoso and internationally renowned guitarist and fellow countryman of Castelnuovo, Alessio Nebiolo. However, what unites the three musicians is not only their passion for Brazilian choros, Andean folklore, as well as Argentine milongas and Tango Nuevos, but also their teaching activities at the Prova music school in Winterthur and the Geneva Conservatory. Starting from Castelnuovo-Tedesco's guitar concerto in D major, which the Italian from a Jewish banking family composed shortly before emigrating and which was premiered in Montevideo, the three musicians repeatedly set their musical foot on the South American continent. Just as the music influences each other across the Atlantic, this musical journey swings between the old continent and the southern, new world. Familiar pieces follow the unknown, favorite pieces evoke memories, and new ones surprise with unusual instrumentation and arrangements written by the trio itself. With their captivating playing, they make the hearts of the audience resonate; the trio masters the entire spectrum of emotions.
