The theater group "L’Harmonie Communale" stages this courtroom drama – a mix of political thriller and female portrait – at the "Usine à Gaz". François Hien begins writing "Le Procès de Jeanne Bloch" in spring 2024, during a time of political despondency. His first source of inspiration is the Riom trial, where Pétain puts Léon Blum and Édouard Daladier on trial, blaming them for the defeat of 1940. After the "Usine à Gaz" has already presented "La Crèche" and "Olivier Masson doit-il mourir?" to the audience in Nyon, it is very pleased to welcome this artist, whose fame is steadily growing, back. "The Trial of Jeanne Bloch" is an alternative historical representation that imagines France after a military defeat under the rule of an authoritarian regime. Jeanne Bloch, former prime minister, stands trial, accused of treason. Opposing her is a regime that has already made its judgment. With five performers, a minimalist set design, and a sophisticated text, "Harmonie Communale" practices a demanding yet accessible theater of words and thought, offering keys to understanding and occasions for hope.
