Description

A deserted shed, a deserted beach, some fragments of memories. It is all that remains of the Bruant Fou, a legendary summer cabaret that disappeared thirty years ago. Digging into their memory, Camille, Sacha, and Arlette set out to find a mysterious box buried under the sand and the years, a true time capsule supposed to contain the secrets of a happy era. Equipped with metal detectors, they scan the ground in search of it, replay the passages of a ritual that might hold the secret of its location, and bring ghosts from the past and forgotten details back to life. As time passes and stories emerge, a new, strong, and unexpected bond forms between them.
With Le chant des bruants fous, Lou Ciszewski uses the codes of cabaret, distorts and stretches them to find a new form that straddles fiction and tradition of the genre. Infusing a humorous dissonance and light joy into this enigmatic story, she creates on stage a timeless universe in which invisible inheritances move, are replayed, and become material for invention.
