Description

Set in Johannesburg during 1968, Laundry tells the story of Enoch, a laundry owner, and his family living under the oppressive apartheid regime. His son Khuthala dreams of becoming a jazz musician abroad, but political pressures threaten their livelihood. When Enoch is arrested and beaten, Khuthala makes a risky deal to save his father, leading to tragic consequences. The film is the debut of South African director Zamo Mkhwanazi, inspired by childhood experiences and highlighting the destruction of human potential under injustice. The soundtrack features South African musician Tracy September, adding emotional depth to this powerful story.
