Immersion in the 19th century: the former apartment of the Museum's donor, Dora Neuhaus (1889–1975), carefully restored down to the smallest details, immerses us in the daily life of a bourgeois family and their home in the 19th century. This apartment was built around 1800 for the manufacturers of the Verdan-Neuhaus printed fabric factory (today the Neuhaus building of the Nouveau Musée Bienne). Style and charm create an enchanting atmosphere in the large living room and the music room. On the dining table, the tableware and tablecloth offer a festive decor, typical of bourgeois lifestyle, while the kitchen evokes the hard household work. The rooms in the attic, the laundry room, and the servants' quarters highlight the life of the domestic staff, very different from that of refined society. Visit: The bourgeois apartment can be visited from Tuesday to Friday from 2:00 PM, and on Saturday/Sunday from 11:00 AM.
