Description

Three musicians, three sound worlds – and no interest in keeping them neatly separated. In «La Face», Hamid Khadiri, Wael Sami Elkholy, and Jan Galega Brönnimann come together. Khadiri brings the voice and the rough, percussive sound of the Sintir from Morocco, Elkholy plays Oud and sings from Egypt, Brönnimann on bass clarinet and electronics from the world of contemporary jazz. Traditional rhythms meet free improvisation, warm string sounds contrast with deep wind instruments and electronic soundscapes. What emerges is neither "world music" in the classical sense nor jazz – but something unique that develops along the way. «La Face» lives from listening, reacting, and thinking further: three musicians who open doors for each other and see what sounds behind.
