The Accordion Orchestra Binningen Bottmingen consists of 11 accordion players. With a versatile repertoire, the orchestra demonstrates how diverse and modern accordion music can sound. The audience can look forward to well-known melodies from various styles – from entertainment music to film and musical, to modern classics. This shows: with the accordion, much more can be played than just traditional folk music. The museum, opened in 1987, features permanent exhibitions on the history of settlement and early settlement, provides insights into the geology and nature of the region, forestry and agriculture, old crafts, and village life. Noteworthy are the Basel artist larvae from 1925-1984, the functioning printing press from around 1920, the Binningen clubs and Binningen personalities (Curt Goetz, Ricco Koelner, and Bolo Mäglin), the dental practice collection from the 1930s, the Iris pin factory from 1936-1991 with film, the parish room of the Binningen poet-pastor Jonas Breitenstein, and the painting studio of his son Ernst Breitenstein.
