Constellations – Premiere

Description

A man and a woman meet at a party. Marianne is a quantum physicist, Roland a beekeeper. And what happens next is perhaps fate, perhaps coincidence – according to the laws of theoretical physics, it is completely unpredictable. In the world of quantum mechanics, there are no certainties, only probabilities. British playwright Nick Payne uses the model of the hypothetical multiverse as the basis for the classic plot "Boy Meets Girl" and follows several alternative realities. Is it love at first sight or rather at the fifth? Does love fail after a few weeks, a few years, or right at small talk? Humorously, Payne accompanies Marianne and Roland through possible highs and lows, crises, and moments of happiness. He plays with the longing for a happy ending, right up to its bitter end. "Till death do us part" can be hopelessly romantic or a sober reality that happens sooner or later – it is the ultimate challenge the couple must or should face in the end. Because in love and physics, nothing is ultimately calculable.
Director Elina Finkel (from the 27/28 season chief director at the Landestheater Tübingen) explores with her ensemble the play of seemingly unlimited possibilities. Starring Anna Grisebach (PRIMA FACIE) and Johann Jürgens (DIE WELT IM RÜCKEN), the protagonists of the last two in-house productions of the Kurtheater.
