Sofia Nappi, Artistic Director and Choreographer Who are we really if we don't have to define ourselves? How versatile are we? And where are the boundaries? With "The Fridas," Sofia Nappi draws on one of Frida Kahlo's iconic self-portraits and translates it into a duet full of intensity, intimacy, and friction. Two bodies mirror each other, contradict, briefly come together, and then part again – identity remains ambiguous and flexible here. With "Wabi-Sabi," the second piece of the evening, Sofia Nappi is inspired by the Japanese concept that celebrates the beauty of imperfection; things and states are explicitly allowed to change, shift – and pass away. KOMOCO has always worked in such liminal spaces. The ensemble represents a movement language that is precise but never seems finished – always in dialogue, always in flux. Sofia Nappi studied dance in New York and furthered her studies internationally. Among other influences, she was notably influenced by Ohad Naharin's dance language. She founded the company KOMOCO in 2022 together with her sister, musician Alice Nappi. In a short time, the ensemble from Florence established itself on the most important theater and festival stages. Duration: 65 minutes, including break
