Description
From the fascination of 19th-century Japanese elites with ancient Greece, to the current influence of Japanese mangas and animations on French-speaking artists, and the media mix boom in Europe in the 1980s, the exhibition demonstrates an unexpected dialogue between two cultures. Two cultures that had little to predispose them to meet, yet their encounter has given rise to a rich universe that constantly reinvents itself. Besides the creativity of Japanese artists and the quality of their works, "Kodai" also highlights the power of antiquity and its representations, which have been a breeding ground for imagination across seas and through time. The exhibition is accompanied by a rich cultural program.
