Kla4 – A Musical Expedition

Description

Four quirky birds peel themselves out of a giant egg one after the other – and finally, a large black wing also appears! Curiously, the newly hatched explore the world around them. Fearlessly, they examine the mysterious instrument from all sides, creating unprecedented music playfully.
The piano, much to the dismay of many pianists, usually appears solo. To play it, many hours of solitary practice are required. In "Kla4," the piano – more precisely, the grand piano – becomes a place of encounter and shared making music. Not alone, not in pairs, but in a quartet! Two pianists and two percussionists discover the instrument from new perspectives: the grand piano is sometimes a keyboard instrument, sometimes a plucked string instrument, and sometimes even a drum. Improvisations and pieces by contemporary composers take the audience on a brief journey of discovery through the music of the 20th and 21st centuries.
