Description
On October 23, 2026, the winners of the Jungck-Künstlerinnen Preis 2026 will be awarded. The foundation based in Bern has been honoring up to three visual artists with a workspace in the Canton of Bern since its founding in 2001 by Matthias Jungck, who have modest means. In 2026, the five-member jury will award three prizes to artists who have been working and experimenting with their artistic expression over a long period. Their works demonstrate subtle languages and well-developed handwriting, while simultaneously employing very different media and materials. All three artists have their life and work centered in the city of Bern. Main Prize: Véronique Zussau (1962) Véronique Zussau's artistic practice includes immersive installations, assemblages, aquaralle, as well as photo and video works. The artist, who is also a member of the Bern Cantonal Art Commission and lectures at local art colleges, is fascinated by "ephemeral balances" in nature, the environment, and life itself. She receives 15,000 Swiss francs, enabling her to undertake a research stay in Japan. The jury: "In a continuous processual exploration, she examines tension fields between space, nature, and technology. Her work convinces with its precision and consistency and touches through playful curiosity and radical determination." Recognition Awards: Flurina Hack (1968) | Caroline Singeisen (1977) In her artistic practice, the freelance artist Flurina Hack often works with everyday objects and discarded materials. She processes and distorts them until their original functions and attributions shift. A new perspective on the unremarkable becomes possible. The jury: "Sometimes fascinating are her space-specific structures, which grow interactively over a longer period, continuously (re)transform, and play with performative actions and live music at specific points." Caroline Singeisen is primarily a draftsman – with this medium, she explores the ephemeral as well as the adhering paint on paper, hybrid beings, and decay. At the same time, she experiments with natural materials. The jury: With great openness and a spirit of experimentation, she explores the possibilities of the medium and always moves within the tension-filled field between intuition and control. Award Ceremony and Exhibition Award ceremony: Friday, October 23, 2026, 6 p.m., Galerie Beatrice Brunner in Bern. The works of the artists will be exhibited from October 23 to November 7, 2026 – Thu, Fri, 2-6 p.m., Sat 12-4 p.m. www.jungckkünstlerinnenpreis.chHighlights
