Jugoslavian Delegation - In Support of Student Protests

Description

A concert event in support of student protests in Serbia. Two Serbian rock bands will perform during the evening. Šajzerbiterlemon has been building a reputation as one of the most sought-after young bands on the Belgrade scene since 2014, known for their lively and raw concerts. Turbo Trans Turisti are coming with last year's album Važan i Veliki, which has brought them into the spotlight of television shows and international showcase festivals. Neither band has performed in the Czech Republic before. They will be preceded by the popular Plzeň-based group Skotační Kulomet, which combines art rock with lounge swing Balkan brass sounds in their music. They will perform energetically and have enthusiastically accepted the invitation to be part of this concert, for which they deserve a big thank you! On-site, it will be possible to support Serbian student and charitable platforms led by the initiative Students in Blockade through QR codes, with proceeds from ticket sales also going to them. Since November 2024, extensive student protests have been taking place in Serbia, joined by a significant part of the public. The catalyst was the collapse of part of the train station in Novi Sad, which resulted in sixteen casualties and became a symbol of neglected infrastructure and pervasive corruption. Since then, students have been holding silent vigils for the victims of the tragedy and unique events highlighting the situation abroad, such as a bike ride from Novi Sad to Strasbourg or a relay run to Brussels, aimed at reaching European institutions. Peaceful actions are often met with harsh suppression by the police, special units, and criminal elements, leading to street clashes. "Jugoslavian Delegation" is an event associated with the Prague debate-concert happenings Lajf Aid 4 Srbija. It will take place in Prague on 30/9 at Cargo Gallery.
