Description
Four hours for a body that may too often need to endure something. Living with endometriosis can mean a lot of searching. What to eat. How to exercise. What not to do. What to change. How to relieve pain. How to support the cycle. How to manage your body a little better. In this meeting, I would like to invite you somewhere different. For a few hours, we don’t have to fix our bodies. We can stop, turn our attention to it, and try to be curious about what is happening in it right now. We will move, breathe, touch our own bellies, create, and talk. And also simply be among women who have their own experiences with endometriosis. What to expect The meeting connects understanding of endometriosis with gentle body work, breath, touch, and creation. I will guide you through the individual parts step by step. No experience with any of the techniques is needed, and there is no need to do anything 'correctly'. - Introductory introduction We will start together and slowly. We will create a space where we can get to know each other a little, and everyone will have the opportunity to bring their own experience with endometriosis. Sharing is always voluntary. You can say as much as you feel comfortable. - A bit of theory about endometriosis We will briefly look at endometriosis and some connections that can help us better understand what is happening in the body. We are not expecting a long lecture. The theory will rather support us for the following practical part. - Gentle exercise and breath work We will shift our attention from thinking to the body. Through gentle movement and breath, we will explore the area of the abdomen and pelvis, tension, and possibilities for release. Without performance and without the need to get the body into any specific state. - Abdominal treatment through touch I will show you a simple self-massage of the abdomen that you can take home and use as needed. We will also try gentle work around the navel and explore how to work with tension in the abdomen through our own touch. Each person works only with their own body and always within a range that is comfortable for them. The last part will be dedicated to collective creation. Using colors and images, we will try to look at our cycle a little differently. You don’t need to know how to paint. The result doesn’t have to be a 'pretty picture'. We will use creation as another way to give space to what is sometimes difficult to express in words. Who the meeting is for - For women with endometriosis who want to spend a few hours a little differently than just searching for what to do with their bodies. - It may be for you if you are drawn to gentle body work, want to learn simple ways to care for your abdomen, or are interested in perceiving your cycle in a way other than through pain and symptoms. - And also if you simply want to be among women who may not need to explain some things at length. Who I am I am a physiotherapist and have been working with women with endometriosis in my practice for over four years. In my work, I combine body work, visceral manipulation, craniosacral therapy, and a somatic approach. I am interested not only in the pain and other physical difficulties themselves but also in the relationship we create with our bodies when we live with them long-term. In addition to individual work, I have also conducted several group meetings for women, including a weekend retreat focused on women with endometriosis. The group space makes a lot of sense to me in this topic. Not only because of what we can do together in it but also because of the opportunity to meet other women who simply know some experiences.
