A wise man. His name is Richard Blatter a.k.a. Elritschi, and he knows the world behind the Titlis and across Lake Lucerne (fr. Lac des Quatre-Cantons; it. Lago dei Quattro Cantoni, Lago di Lucerna; rom. Lai dals Quatter Chantuns) and speaks French, Italian, Spanish, 'if necessary, even Croatian.' The well-traveled singer/songwriter has released the 'simply beautiful and clumsy' vinyl single 'gonna go fine' (2023) with the Fidelis Big Band, as well as four CDs and currently the double CD 'singing radio artist' (2025). Over the last four decades, the once young Swiss color radio columnist and singer has not only sat on local (and international) seating but has also stood and danced with a raised voice at the microphone in the energetically wild sound of his cult band Jolly & the Flytrap, which he co-founded in the summer of 1986. 'I have also been thrown off this stage,' admits the laughing stage tiger, printed on kultur-tipp.ch, where it is said about the Jollies flying masters: Their concerts are rare. But when they are on stage, they know no brakes. Jolly & the Flytrap has been delighting music fans with wanderlust for almost 40 years. The Inner Swiss musicians beam their concert communities to the beach of Rimini, to the Spanish plains, or to the bubbling Balkans. So he is not in Switzerland's largest small town for the first time. He knows where Bartli gets the best cider and taps it. And when he is here in Zurich, the musically inclined business economist and father of three is not like many Urswiss only a street-blocking metal avalanche on black Catholic shopping holidays. But practically always, it will be a juicy life celebration. Exuberant. Swaying. Bone-crushing. Hip and knee joint oiling. Nature- and art-jointed. Brain-fried in the best sense of the word. And because the band members pursue various bread professions, the spectacular performances of the Jollies have become rare. All the more beautiful that they gather here on our clumsy last island at the simply beautiful Mississihl to serve the heron and you and us their world musical devil's brat – complete with devil's drums and heavenly trumpets. Simply divine!
