Joel Sarakula travels from the planet of the 70s – not to take us back, but to focus his vintage perspective on the present. Behind his oversized retro sunglasses, he casts an analog filter over a cold, overstimulating world – and with generous wink, reveals what lies beneath: beauty, love, and also loss. Soft rock, sunny soul, and disco provide the soundtrack. The Australian singer, songwriter, and producer has built a dedicated fan base in Europe over the years in an old-fashioned way – by always being present, from city to city, from country to country, singing (and dancing) from the heart and finally with sold-out concerts, festival appearances, extensive airplay, and six albums (latest Soft Focus, 2024). Live, Joel Sarakula has a cheeky, unabashed stage wit and the gift to give each evening an unplanned, unforgettable touch. The band, often assembled from musicians of the respective region, follows this energy wherever it leads: spontaneous jams occur, the audience dances and sings – and at some point, it’s no longer clear who is leading whom – until a group of strangers finds beautiful harmony, at least for this one night. Spring 2027 will bring him back on tour through Europe – with new songs.
