Description
Two great performers meet here: guitarist "Joe" Sachse owes his first name to the big hit "Hey Joe" by Jimi Hendrix. "Joe" has been one of the creative minds of the jazz scene in the East for decades and has played repeatedly with many musicians – especially drummers. Whether it was John Marshall or "Baby" Sommer, the patriarch of the DDR jazz scene. "Luten" Petrowsky, a grande of DDR jazz, who often performed at the Villingen jazz cellar, understood free playing as "having all possibilities at one's disposal." He played for many years in a trio with Joe Sachse. In the spirit of this music, Sachse also understands the new duo: "Free playing as a basis, but also rhythmic stretches with standards." What could be closer than Sachse meeting the drummer Joe Hertenstein in a duo? He hails from the Black Forest and is based in Brooklyn as well as Berlin. If you want to hear contemporary jazz between driving rock and shimmering improvisations, you should not miss this concert of two exceptional musicians.
