Some call it retirement, Joe Haider calls it warming up. Anyone who believed that the exceptional pianist would take it easier after his 90th birthday in January 2026 knows him poorly. Joe Haider cannot help himself – and why should he? After a triumphant anniversary tour across Europe, the Grand Seigneur of jazz is gracing us with his latest heartfelt project. "Miles for Ever," the title, is much more than a mere homage. It is a highly energetic bow to the golden era of the legendary Miles Davis (1955–1960). Haider dusts off the sound of those historic quintets and fills it with the experience of a musician's life spanning nine decades. For this, he has assembled a true "All-Star lineup": With Claus Reichstaller on trumpet and Toni Lakatos on tenor saxophone, soloists of the European top class stand by his side, complemented by the precise rhythm section with Lorenz Beyeler (double bass) and Daniel Aebi (drums). All of them guarantee a program with that unmistakable sound, mastered only by someone who not only plays jazz but lives it.
