Lea Surovcová is a trained educator and has been working as a journalist and reporter for Czech Television for 21 years. She is also the director of several documentary films on social themes, and her reports have a real impact. She recently published her first book "Jenom chci bejt" – ten empathetic interviews with people who find themselves on the edge of life and are battling incurable diseases. What truly remains when life quiets down and all the unimportant fades away? Lea will personally present the book as part of an author reading and discussion. The publication is accompanied by illustrations from her sister Lucie Surovec Charvátová. About the author: Lea Surovcová graduated from the Faculty of Education at Masaryk University in Brno. She began her career at the commercial station TV Nova. Since 2005, she has been working at Czech Television, first in Brno and later in Prague as a reporter and editor of domestic news. She has hosted programs such as Dobré ráno, Před půlnocí, and the series Případ pro ombudsmanku. In her journalistic work, she focuses on people with difficult fates, whether they are seriously ill, single-parent families, seniors in distress, homeless individuals, or widowed families. She is also the director of several documentary films on social themes. Often, her reports provoke specific assistance. At the same time, she helps people in difficult situations in her free time as a volunteer. She was the first to draw attention years ago to the issue of families who cannot afford school lunches for their children, which led to systemic change. She recently published her first book titled "Jenom chci bejt" – ten interviews with people with cancer.
