With "Jenny Dances the Tango," mezzo-soprano Helen Weintritt and pianist Elli Freundorfner present an extraordinary chamber music theater evening that combines song, chanson, musical, and tango. The focus is on Jenny – not a historical figure, but a poetic character. She appears to the audience as a seeker, lover, and breaker. Her story unfolds not in a linear plot but through music and short poetic texts. From individual songs, a musical life path emerges, telling of longing, memory, self-assertion, and freedom. The program features works by Kurt Weill, Georges Bizet, Stephen Sondheim, Astor Piazzolla, Manuel de Falla, and other composers. Different musical worlds engage in a lively dialogue, opening surprising connections between chanson, opera, musical, and tango. With great expressiveness and a fine sense for musical nuances, Helen Weintritt and Elli Freundorfner create an intimate concert evening where music and language flow into each other. This creates a space that invites the audience not only to listen but also to empathize and recognize. "Jenny Dances the Tango" is the duo Reflets Ondulés' first joint music theater production and premieres in October 2026 in Konstanz.
