27th WORLD BAND FESTIVAL LUZERN presents Jazz Afternoon Dutch Swing College Band Adrie Braat, bandleader. What started as a daring dream of some enthusiastic young people is now a worldwide jazz success story. Over 80 years ago, young musicians in the Netherlands kept the then-banned jazz music alive. Secretly, passionately, and unwaveringly. From this rebellious love of swing, the legendary Swing College was born, and later one of the most renowned jazz formations in the world, the Dutch Swing College Band. Since 1960, touring as a professional orchestra, the band has won countless awards, traveled all five continents, and has always remained true to its musical signature: traditional jazz with character. Instead of copying American role models, the Dutch Swing College Band has been delighting audiences for decades with its own interpretations, sophisticated arrangements, and unmistakable compositions. Lively, authentic, and full of joy of playing. After a four-year break, this exceptional band is finally returning to KKL Luzern. So it's high time to experience one of the most successful Old Time Jazz bands in the world again in Lucerne. With Jazz Afternoon, the audience can also look forward to a special premiere. For the first time, an exhilarating Dixie Jazz concert will take place on an early Sunday afternoon. Relaxed, lively, and perfect to end the week with swing and good mood.
