The artist Jan Sebesta will be present. Jan Sebesta (*1979) often starts from places in nature where traces of human use become visible: thoughtlessly discarded trash, leftover materials, and relics of a throwaway society. Through digital montage and the targeted shifting of scale and perspective, dystopian visual worlds are created that lie between documentation and staging. These fragile visual spaces, which Jan Sebesta shows us in "Fading Utopia," all seem strangely familiar and disturbingly foreign at the same time. Found objects are aestheticized without neutralizing them, thereby increasing awareness of the hidden consequences of our way of life. In addition to digital and analog collages, objects are also presented. In this tension field, the four selected short films of Fantoche – International Festival of Animation Film 2026, which are shown during the exhibition, also stand. They also deal with environmental issues, societal changes, and the consequences of human actions. They often choose an experimental and pictorial narrative form.

The exhibition "Fading Utopia" by Jan Sebesta opens on August 23, 2026, at Gluri Suter Huus in Wettingen. It addresses dystopian visual worlds and traces of human use in nature. Accompanying the exhibition are workshops and a finissage with the artist.
