Zürich/Senegal – Afrobeatjazz CONCERT Kouyaté, a virtuoso of the Kora, singer, and composer from Senegal, brings the music tradition of his people to the indie world. Born into one of the most renowned Griot families, he was introduced to the art of Kora playing at a very early age. Thus, Issa grew into the role of the Griot, the 'singing storyteller,' whose music is deeply rooted in the history and myths of West Africa. He bridges the countries he travels through and his homeland, Senegal. Together with Márcio de Sousa and Joël Burkhard, they perform Issa Kouyaté's compositions as a trio. A fusion of West African tradition, Afrobeat, and jazz influences emerges.
