Description
Since 1974, the Irish Folk Festival (IFF) has stood for unmistakable authenticity and is considered the original in Germany, Switzerland, and the Benelux countries. In its 53rd edition, the IFF emphasizes its reputation as one of the most traditional touring events in Europe. Every autumn, the festival transforms large concert halls and charming venues in rural areas into centers of Irish joy of life – an experience that has already thrilled over a million visitors. The motto for 2026, Gold Dust in Your Pocket, symbolizes the endurance of Irish tradition: an inexhaustible source of energy, community, and joy of life that grows when shared. Four high-profile acts present the diversity of Irish music before coming together in the grand finale for the legendary joint session: Brian Leach opens with his unique sound on the Hammered Dulcimer. He combines traditional Irish melodies with improvised soundscapes and world music influences for a spherical, profound musical experience. Following him, Brian Haitz & Brendan Mulholland provide exquisite musical soul food: wooden flute, guitar, and selected songs merge into an intimate, virtuosic dialogue between two outstanding musicians. The young band Astro Bloc brings fresh energy to the folk scene. Two fiddles, powerful drums, and creative guitar work connect tradition with cosmic expansiveness and modern dynamics. The Outcast Crew, the Godfathers of Punky Folk, bring the rebellious side of Ireland to the stage. Raw, energetic, and uncompromising. Experience the Irish Folk Festival 2026: A journey to the treasure at the end of the rainbow – full of intensity, community, and lived tradition. 'As far as the representation of Irish music is concerned, the IFF remains the benchmark.' – Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
