With Inter lacrimas gaude, El Gran Teatro del Mundo takes you into the fascinating sound world of the French Baroque at the court of Louis XIV – an era between glorious representation and deep spirituality. The program highlights the tense dialogue between quiet devotion and expressive drama, between French elegance and Italian expressiveness. Together with the outstanding solo voices Jone Martínez and Lisandro Abadie, the ensemble contrasts two influential composers: Henry Dumont embodies the perfected clarity and balance of the Grand Siècle, characterized by fine line work and artistic counterpoint. His work radiates calm, depth, and perfect proportion. In contrast stands Marc-Antoine Charpentier, whose music is permeated with Italian influences and captivates with powerful harmonies and intense text interpretation. His compositions touch directly and give the spiritual content a compelling emotional dimension. Instrumental highlights complete the program: Charpentier's impressive Sonata à 8 and Delalande's magnificent Grande Pièce Royale showcase the diversity and sophistication of this era while also providing a glimpse into its secular brilliance.
