The Schnapsmarkt in December is the last market of the year. Some say that in the past, politicians would buy rounds of schnapps on this day to secure their re-election. Others say that the schnapps stock was replenished for the cold winter. Whatever the case, today Jägertee, punch, and coffee schnapps are the favorites. The Ilanzer clubs use this event to boost their funds, and it is also an occasion to meet friends, relatives, and acquaintances and toast to the past and upcoming year.
