The journey to the iconic through the lens of competitive figure skating — from the creators of the Thalia Award-winning production Black Dress. A solo performance by Becky McFadden inspired by her lifelong obsession with figure skating and a brief competitive career. Iconic Program draws from the structure of this sport — its archetypes, narratives, and competitive formats — inviting the audience to embrace failure as liberation. A celebration of the beautiful yet terrifying sport that shapes body, mind, and identity. Expect great emotions, deep grooves, and bent knees. While there is no ice here, skating still happens. Despite a good dose of humor, the work has an almost therapeutic dimension. Becky McFadden unravels a tangle of conflicting thoughts and feelings on stage to relive, process, and find a remedy for her trauma. According to her, this recent public performance, after a long time, was done purely for her own joy. This imperfect yet liberating figure skating choreography is also performed on stage at the end. And it is indeed an iconic ride that inspires a healthy relationship with one’s own shortcomings and helps close burdensome chapters of life. An hour before the start, the INDUSTRA theater bar will be open, which will remain open after the performance depending on visitor interest. We love animals at INDUSTRA, but the theater hall is not a suitable environment for them due to loud sounds — we recommend leaving your four-legged companions at home.
