Description

Enchanted philosophical pondering about the boundary of the knowable Father and daughter, astrophysicist and artist, have always had conversations about the horizon. The horizon represents fields and areas to which human knowledge never has access. The past and the future blend together: formerly, the father told stories to his young daughter to ease her fears of darkness and monsters. The now grown-up daughter will accompany her father as he disappears into the darkness of dementia. Astronomical concepts, musical interludes, and Christoph Columbus’ audience at the Spanish court are virtuously and poetically combined by Manuela Infante in her fourth work in Basel into a piece about curiosity, fear, and love. The horizon is not only far out in space and time but also within our bodies, our psyche, and our past.
