Here's what it's about: Are you planning a historical novel or a historical text? Or do you already have a writing project that requires in-depth orientation? This seminar also offers a solid introduction for those interested in learning more about writing historical novels. Writing a historical novel presents special challenges: historical material must be carefully researched and at the same time embedded in a convincing narrative with authentic language and coherent structure. The seminar imparts the fundamentals and depths of historical writing and provides space to specifically develop your own projects. Writing historical novels – from research to artistic implementation: The focus is on the peculiarities of the genre of historical novel. Different storytelling methods and language styles are examined, structure and organization are analyzed, and various possibilities for the artistic realization of historical material are explored. Participants can bring their own research questions and work on them together. A visit to the State Archive with a special tour provides practical insights into how historical sources can be researched and used efficiently. Participants' own historical writing projects will be further developed during the seminar. Different narrative approaches can be tested, and individual options for shaping the respective text can be explored. The work takes place in a small group with a maximum of six participants. The professional exchange offers insights into different writing processes and approaches and simultaneously provides ample space for individual work on one's own project. The seminar offers intensive, practice-oriented, and creatively designed workdays with a balanced combination of theoretical impulses, joint reflection, and individual writing practice.
