Description

This course focuses on the horse. You will acquire theoretical knowledge and hippological skills related to the concept of hippotherapy. Key topics include: biomechanics of the horse's back, gait analysis, various aids and their application. Content: Hippotherapy is physiotherapy using the horse as a tool. It is a recognized medical treatment. The movement transfers from the horse's gait and back are used for therapeutic purposes for patients. In the advanced course (WBK) Hippology, you will learn the basics of the behavior and needs of the therapy horse. You will learn to analyze the horse's gait and study the biomechanics of the horse's back. Practical exercises will deepen your knowledge in the roles of horse handler and therapist working with patients. Topics include: - Theoretical foundations of hippotherapy - Self-experience as a patient and as a horse handler - Needs, health, and behavior of the horse, horse handling - Horse anatomy, biomechanics of the horse's back, analysis of gait, requirements for gait assessment. Connection: The basic module Hippology can be completed as Module 1 of the CAS Hippotherapy Adults, Children, or Plus. Requirements: - Physiotherapist FH or HF - Good horse knowledge and riding experience - Experience in handling horses, especially leading / work on the hand (groundwork course advantageous) - Understanding of professional articles in English Learning objectives: Graduates will be able to - apply basic hippological knowledge specifically for treating people with neurological disorders - take responsibility for the appropriate selection and specific training of horses - analyze symptoms and plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based treatments for hippotherapy - select and modify aids effectively - communicate professionally across various interfaces Target group: Physiotherapists FH/HF Note: The hippological surcharge of CHF 200.00 is included in the price.
