Description

Music monument with a wink Making oneself the titular hero of a symphonic poem requires a fair amount of self-confidence. Richard Strauss possessed it. And he dedicated the as a somewhat ironic sounding monument as a "heroic" composer. Alongside him, a longing wife, vainly attacking him, and a host of complaining music critics. With her , Helena Winkelman places Strauss in the environment of a ringing cartoon. And from a tender beginning, Elena Firsova's concert for saxophone quartet and orchestra develops into a "danse macabre." In 2023, Markus Poschner conducted it in Linz and now brings it to Basel. Together with Beethoven's "Leonore Overture," music from an opera where not a man is the hero, but his brave wife who rescues him from prison.
