Jenny Erpenbeck processes childhood memories of her grandparents in a house on Scharmützelsee in her 2008 novel. The works of the author and theater director have been translated into 30 languages and awarded multiple prizes, including the Thomas Mann Prize. Heimsuchung was included in the Guardian's list of the "100 best books of the 21st century" in 2019.
