Description

Heidi lives with her grandfather, the Alpöhi, in the mountains. As an orphan, she has found a home here. There is nothing she loves more than herding goats with Geissenpeter, playing in the wide meadows, and sleeping in the hay. But then her Aunt Dete takes her to Frankfurt, where she is to live with a wealthy family in the big city. Their daughter Klara is in a wheelchair and is delighted by her company. The two become friends. However, Heidi suffers from great homesickness and longs to return to the mountains. This wish is fulfilled, and she returns to the Alpöhi. When Klara visits her in the mountains, she comes to know and love Heidi's world, which brings about many wonders.
Director Sophia Bodamer stages the play, based on the world-famous novel by Johanna Spyri, in Swiss German and High German, with music by Anna Trauffer. Johanna Spyri would celebrate her 200th birthday in 2027.
