Hannah Darabi. Why Don't You Dance?

Description

The project combines photographs, videos, and archival material and examines how dance can become an expression of identity and emancipation depending on social and political context, especially within the Iranian diaspora. It is inspired by Mahvash's autobiography and the karaoke evenings at Cabaret Tehran in Los Angeles. With this, Darabi bridges historical and contemporary dance practices. The Prix Elysée is based on an exclusive partnership between Photo Elysée and Parmigiani Fleurier.
