Description
As part of a week-long residency, Selina Beghetto shares excerpts from her current manuscript and invites the audience to a discussion followed by an aperitif. Grandmotherland resonates like the murmur of the Inn, as the winter waters rush down the valley in spring. It exudes a scent that combines freshly cut grass and sunscreen on a hot July day. It tastes of hand-picked red berries arranged in halves of marinated pears that make up the game plate in autumn, both sweet and tangy. "Grossmutterland" weaves into a single narrative the stories of different women from the same family. All grew up here in the Engadine, each in a different era, each with different dreams and perspectives. What unites them is their origin and their role as mothers. What distinguishes them is how they embrace it. This bilingual book addresses the theme of belonging and the question of each person's place in this world.
