Description
Jot, in his mid-fifties, leaves nothing to chance. His entire existence is focused on planning and control – working for a company that sells bunkers to the super-rich, he has found the ideal job and has, of course, also prepared privately for emergencies. But then, during his running routine, he comes across a dead body, and his carefully constructed security system begins to crumble. The image of the half-naked body won't let him go. But why does the police speak of suicide? Deeply unsettled, Jot must realize that his perception and memory have spiraled out of control, and answers can only be found if he dares to descend into the sealed shafts of his past. A highly topical novel about fears and uncertainty in our crisis-ridden present and the dangerous power of repression. Julia von Lucadou holds a PhD in film studies. She has worked as an assistant director, TV editor, and simulation patient; she lives in Cologne. Her first novel, “Die Hochhausspringerin” (2018), was shortlisted for the Swiss Book Prize and won the Swiss Literature Prize. “Times of Greatest Danger” is her third novel. Registration is requested, either directly in the store or at info@roessli-buchhandlung.ch. Please also note our two reading circle dates on 18th and 19th November for this book as part of the Wenkenhof talks.
