«Future Fashion» is an exhibition about the present and future of fashion, addressing how clothing can be rethought in a time of overproduction, digital acceleration, and ecological strain. The Swiss population is among the top consumers of clothing and textiles worldwide. Each person in Switzerland buys about 15kg of clothing annually, of which approximately 25% is never worn. The starting point is a dual reality: Ultra Fast Fashion drives trend and production cycles further, while at the same time, initiatives, labels, communities, and artistic-creative practices develop alternatives. Upcycling ateliers, rental models, phygital applications, and digital experiments are transforming the production, use, and design of fashion and expanding it with new, exciting ideas. The exhibition is divided into three chapters: one focuses on practical, community-based circular models (upcycling and recycling), the second on digital infrastructures and new ownership logics, culminating in speculative body and material designs where fashion is pushed as image, interface, and imagination. The main hall features large-format multimedia installations that broadly address current practices and possible futures of the fashion world. The side hall is set up as a laboratory, where experimental studies, projects, formats, and new approaches from Swiss textile research are presented. This shows how «Future Fashion» demonstrates that fashion is simultaneously material, data set, and image, and how this shifts the relationships between body, identity, clothing, platform, and value. The goal is to make concrete experiments visible: established approaches as well as experimental prototypes. The exhibition invites discussion of contradictions, promises, and open questions, and encourages reflection on what the future of fashion might look like.
