FULL OF LIFE Susanne Hauser, Regula Syz, Martin Reukauf, Janeth Berrettini, Haviva Jacobson The works of these five artists are full of life in many different ways: Expressive figurative painting meets a painterly exploration of the essence of the moment. Water, as an element of life, becomes an artistic medium; the creative process, an organic form. While the wonder of material life on our planet is expressed, the exhibition may also serve as an invitation to live more fully. In the spirit of art full of life, the IG Halle exhibition presents the expressive paintings of Regula Syz. Her body of work, spanning 50 years, reflects a profound engagement with human reality as well as social and spiritual questions. Martin Reukauf, on the other hand, has been painting exclusively in the forest for nearly 20 years. There, where space and light are constantly in motion, the question arises on the canvas: How can we get closer to the diversity of the visible world? In her drawings, Susanne Hauser points to unimagined possibilities and forms of life, whether they be planets waiting to be discovered or hidden creatures in the depths of the oceans. At the same time, she draws attention to the uniqueness of our planet, on which life exists. Water, the element of life, finds its way directly into Janeth Berrettini’s objects and installations in its natural form—as rain or river water. Her approach also describes a way of seeing water differently—with greater respect. Structures of the living characterize Haviva Jacobson’s work: Her drawings and installations grow, organically so to speak, out of an unintentional creative process, attentive observation, and experimentation with a wide variety of materials.
