Bats under the Museum Roof

Under the roof of the Rosenegg Museum, collection objects and exhibition inventory are stored, covered with large sheets to protect against the remnants of small winged guests: the beams also serve as quarters for bats. Normally not accessible to the public, the museum invites visitors to a tour of the attic. Beforehand, the well-known bat expert Wolf-Dieter Burkhard will report from his extensive experience and the time-consuming nocturnal research work with radiotelemetry, which has led to new insights. Over forty years ago, he founded the Thurgau Coordination Office for Bat Protection together with his wife Ursula. They have succeeded in proving numerous species of these nocturnal hunters for Thurgau. They all show different needs and behaviors.
