Description

Lauren Dällenbach - CH/FR - 2026 - 81 min - FR with German subtitles For over half a century, Nicole and her mother Alberte have lived in a large house on Lake Geneva, following the rhythm of their daily routines. Nicole—whom no one could ever have imagined living on her own—and her aging mother seem inseparable. While Nicole’s older sister prepares for Nicole to move out, her mother doubts her ability to live independently. Faced with this deadlocked situation, the director approaches her aunt Nicole with curious questions. Fears of being alone surface, yet at the same time, she begins to exist within a creative space that grants her a unique autonomy despite her lack of expressive ability. Thanks to a personal perspective on her family, Lauren becomes the driving force behind a process of emancipation that is as moving as it is uplifting. This touching debut film won the 2026 National Competition Prize at the renowned “Visions du Réel” festival in Nyon. Lauren Dällenbach * 1991
