Here, two sons play alongside their fathers—and all four are among the country’s most outstanding Schwyzerörgeli players. In fact, the concert brings together three generations on one stage: Werner Aeschbacher (81), the eldest, embodies tradition. Thomas Aeschbacher (60) and Markus Flückiger (57), as pioneers, represent the renewal of folk music—while Dominik Flückiger (30), who stepped out of his father’s shadow a few years ago, demonstrates how fresh, imaginative, and forward-looking the youngest generation is in developing this music, while maintaining respect for tradition. Thomas Aeschbacher, recipient of the Golden Violin Key, and Markus Flückiger, winner of the Swiss Music Prize, are defining figures of Swiss folk music in recent decades. Each with his own style, yet always at the highest level. Now they are sharing the stage for the first time: four Schwyzerörgelis, first in their respective family duos, then united in a shared sound. Joining them is double bassist Pirmin Huber, one of the most sought-after musicians on the scene, who—much like Dominik Flückiger—is shaping current trends.
