Jan. Jan Sedgwick. Herr Sedgwick. Or should we say Herr Jan? This is how children referred to him during his time as an experiential educator. Herr Jan - who prefers to be addressed informally - liked this name and incorporated it into his musical work. Herr Jan's music can be described as: many genres, many feelings. From the tenderness of singer-songwriter pop, the relaxation of reggae, to the exuberance of hip-hop, Herr Jan develops intricate compositions and multi-part melodies. He creates musical landscapes for equally inviting, contemplative, and empowering themes that most families recognize from everyday life and discussions about the big questions of life. A special place is given to the wide field of emotions. A Herr Jan concert is a colorful adventure for the whole family. Good, handmade music is usually even better on stage – this also applies to Herr Jan's songs, and he, along with his Superbänd, seizes every opportunity to perform his songs live at festivals, open airs, or clubs, where he raps, sings, and shares stories from life between the stage piano, kazoo, and guitar. "With my Superbänd, we take the audience on an adventure and create an atmosphere that feels good and is really fun. My concerts are real and guaranteed without playback, because everyone has a right to good live music." His songs are played repeatedly on children's radio, he is frequently seen on the TV channel KiKa, was awarded the jury prize of the German Children's Song Prize in 2018 and 2019, and received the first audience award from the renowned Christiane Weber Foundation.
