Description

Patrick Rohner's work revolves around processes that can be observed both in nature and in art: layering, deposits, erosion, and compression. Geology, climate, and landscape do not serve as motifs but as conceptual models of an artistic practice where observation, experience, and insight intertwine. The exhibition Faltungen brings together water, stone, and smoke drawings, oil works, photographs, and tracings from different phases of his work. The title also refers to a fundamental principle in Rohner's work: his oeuvre does not develop linearly but through overlays, recurrences, and condensations. For the exhibition at museumbickel, Patrick Rohner engaged intensively with the landscape around Lake Walen. Over two thousand photographs taken from the water condense into a spatial installation. A specially developed wall work also provides the first insight into his "climate archive," which has grown over years, connecting the different groups of works.
